Powder Coating is a dry finishing process created by an electric charge that causes a dry powder to fuse to the surface of the metal. This is then baked in a curing oven to achieve a smooth coating. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is an excellent alternative to paint that provides a near-indestructible, permanent, and even coating that is simple to apply and environmentally friendly.

There are two types of powder coating, thermosets and thermoplastics. Thermoplastic powder coating finishes become liquid and very soft when heated. This eliminates chemical bonding. This process makes the powder coating both reversible and reusable.
